Experience with Dochelle
The one most memorable and most talked about item in our wedding
which really gave our guest an insight on the importance of our
day were the invitations. The amount of phone calls we've
received was really unexpected. No one has ever received an
invitations as glamorous as ours. The invitation was the most
important to us because we knew it would help us to set the mood
of our wedding day and it did just that.

One of my guests actually took the beautiful crystal from our
invitation and made it into a jewelry piece and wore it to our
wedding in honor of us. I couldn't thank you enough for the
beautiful job your staff has done and the incredible work you
continue to do. I am looking forward to our next event just so I
can send out another one of your great pieces of art.
Our love story
Who would have ever thought that I, Melina Tripodi, would find
my prince. We could not have done it, without our two
sister-in-laws and my brother's sister-in-law Dina. While my
brother was on the job, he met Sal and found out that his
fiancé, Tracy and Sal knew each other from town. They both
realized that both of our families had a lot in common and
thought that we would make a good couple. We both were hesitant
about meeting one another.
On my 29th birthday, Tracy, my sister-in-law informed me that
Sal was at the bar. I immediately was overcome with nerves. I
just wanted to go out with friends and have a good time. I
didn't want to be put under a spotlight. After I was given the
news that Sal was there, he casually came up to me and my
friends and offered to by us a drink. We started talking, but
then he left shortly after to attend a friend's birthday party.
After happy hour my friends and I went to the diner, and to my
surprise, Sal showed up knowing that I would be there. We talked
and exchanged numbers and the rest is history.
The proposal
Two weeks earlier, my boss called me into his office and told me
that he was sending me on a workshop in New York City for
"Students with Bi-Polar disorders." At first I was hesitant
about going, but then it seemed like a really good opportunity
to gain insight on the subject. Not to mention, the fact that I
would be in the center of Time Square and staying at the
Sheraton with all expenses paid.
Early Friday morning on Jan. 27, I left for New York. Sal was
supposed to accompany me, but he called and told me that he was
held up at work and would meet me for dinner after my meetings.
When I checked my bags, the bell boy asked me if I wanted a room
on the top floor or down on the first floor. I immediately said
"Way up top!" After a few minutes, I was given a key. I was
asked if anyone would be joining me for the evening. I said, "As
a matter of fact, my boyfriend is coming later on tonight. His
name is Sal. Can you please leave a key for him?" The bell man
took an envelope, placed the key inside it and wrote Sal's name
on top.
He walked me to the elevator and gave me directions to my room.
When I got to my room, I swiped my key in the door, but it
wouldn't work. I tried a third time and it finally opened. As I
walked into the room, I experienced the scare of my life. There
was what appeared to be a man laying on top of the bed. I could
only see his feet, and he was not moving. I immediately thought
I was given the key to the wrong room. After a good 10 seconds,
the man lifts up his head. To my surprise, it was Sal!
It took me a few minutes to get over the scare. I stood frozen
at the door. Sal came over and grabbed my bags and walked me
into the room. It was a vision stolen from a movie scene. Two
dozen roses filled the room. The view was magnificent. Music was
playing and a chilled bottle of champagne was waiting to be
opened. (It doesn't end here!) Since, Sal was always full of
surprises, I thought this was his way of making me feel better
for having to go to a conference I didn't want to be at. So, an
hour after I arrived, at the hotel, I told him that I had to go
to my meeting. He kept changing the subject until he finally
admitted that there weren't any meetings. It was all a set up.
At this point, I was mortified that not only my boss, but also
my family knew that I was in a hotel room with my boyfriend. I
got over it quickly! My cell phone was taken away. I was not
allowed to ask questions the entire weekend. Friday night, we
took a yoga class followed by a candle-lit dinner. (Still No
Ring)
Saturday, we went out for breakfast, no questions asked,
followed by a full body spa treatment. We walked through Time
Square and visited St. Patrick's Cathedral. Our last stop was at
a his and her's private mani & pedi-cure. (Still No Ring)
We get into his car and drive back to Hackensack, a block away
from where I live, and he decides that he's hungry. He felt like
eating Greek food, so he suggested we go to It's Greek To Me in
Fort lee. He proceeded to drive onto the Palisades Parkway, and
parked his car at the park where he surprised me with our very
first official date. (Here it comes!) After a few minutes of
walking in the park and talking about our future together, he
asked a couple (who didn't even speak English) to take a picture
of us. And just then HE GOT DOWN ON ONE KNEE AND POPPED THE
QUESTION!
Our wedding day
Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true! It rained three
days before our wedding day and almost an entire week after.
However, on August 18, 2007, we awoke to a spectacular day. It
was about 75 degrees and sunny with a clear blue sky. Sharon, my
hair stylist from Vanity and Mascara in Little Falls, NJ,
arrived on time with her assistants at 7:00 AM.
All eleven of my bridesmaids were punctual as well. My parents
decorated the house beautifully with wedding music playing in
the background and refreshments for all of the guests. At 10:30
Santos Florist from Newark, NJ delivered our bouquets and then
went to decorate our church. My cousin Carmela Rosa designed our
isle runner by painting our monograms on the runner and then
accenting the initials with Crystals to match our cake topper.
At about 11:30 AM, Studio Uno photographers from Lodi, NJ
arrived to video tape and take pictures. At 1:20 PM, I left my
house for the ceremony which was to take place at 1:30. Our
ceremony was beautiful. We hired two young girls from our church
to play the violin and piano. The setting was so romantic. We
had flowers throughout the church, petal sprinkled down the isle
and candles lit as well.
After the ceremony, we greeted our guests and thanked them for
attending and then released white doves to symbolize our lives
together as one. We immediately went to our reception hall, The
Rockleigh Country Club, in Rockleigh, NJ. Jerry Puccio, did a
wonderful job with the presentation of the food and the
accommodations for our 400 guests. Opera 3000 Band from
Garfield, set the mood for the night, by playing music of all
genres.
Planning the wedding together was a lot of fun. We are so happy
with the way everything turned out. We only hope that our day is
a prelude to rest of our lives together! |
